Horwitz S Publisher / Executive Editor ahorwitz@renmedia.us tandWithUs-Michigan, in coop- eration with its international parent organization, is urging individuals and local Jewish organiza- tions to buy up Israeli goods at local stores now through Sunday, March 3. In partnership with the American-Israel Jackie Headapohl Managing Editor jheadapohl©renmedia.us Keri Guten Cohen Chamber of Commerce, this is an effort to counter the ongoing boycott of Israeli products by those groups whose goal is to damage the Israeli economy. In the past three years, the "Buy Israel Goods" campaign has successfully responded to global boycotts involving protesters standing outside stores, asking shoppers not to buy Israeli products, such as SodaStream. A successful company mak- ing an environmentally sound product, SodaStream has one of its factories in the community of Maale Adumin, which boy- cotters claim is on Palestinian land. Of its workers, 500 hundred are West Bank Palestinians, 400 are Arabs from Jerusalem and 200 are a mix of Israeli Jews, Druze and Jews from Ethiopia, Russia, Iran and other foreign countries. They work side-by-side for equal pay and benefits. Last year, local Israel supporters were in many stores, buying a variety of products and thanking the store managers for stock- ing Israeli goods. They even discovered stores they had not previously patronized.
