You're invited to hear noted author and Holocaust expert Diane Afoumado, chief of the
International Tracing Service (ITS) research branch at the United States Holocaust Memorial
Museum. Afoumado will speak about the S.S. St. Louis, which served as transportation for
many German and Austrian Jews seeking escape from Nazi persecution.

Dr. Afoumado has authored several books and contributed to the publications Repicturing
the Second World War: Representations in Film and Television and Evoking Genocide: Scholars
and Activists Describe the Works That Shaped Their Lives. She has written more than 20
articles related to the Holocaust.
