Detroit Women's Department's Tikun
Olan Volunteers (TOV) are inviting
the community to celebrate National
Reading Month by sharing a book with
a kindergartener at Bagley Elementary
School in Detroit on Thursday, March 21.
Volunteers, asked to bring one new
book to read and donate to a student,
will meet at the Max Fisher Federation
Building, 6735 Telegraph, Bloomfield
Township, at 9:45 a.m. for carpools to
Bagley, returning around 12:30 p.m.

Advice For Parents
To Get College Loans
JVS will host a parent information meet-
ing about the Jewish Educational Loan
Service (JELS) and additional financial
aid options for Jewish college students,
7 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, at JVS'
Southfield office, 29699 Southfield Road.
JELS Coordinator Marvin Berman will
discuss how to apply for an interest-free
student loan offered through the JELS
program. He will also address availability
of financial assistance through federal,
state, institutional and private sources.
Informational resource materials will also
be available.
The presentation is directed toward
parents, though students are welcome

Mary Kramer, vice president of Crain

Crain's Detroit Business, will serve as the
honorary chair and keynote speaker for
JVS's fifth annual Trade Secrets fund-
raiser, 6 p.m., Thursday, March 7, at the
Townsend Hotel in Birmingham.
Funds from the
event support the
JVS Women to Work
Program, which
helps women who
need to enter the
workforce after dras-
tic life changes such
as divorce, spousal
death or critical
financial issues.
