Troop 364, the Jewish Boy Scout Troop chartered by Adat Shalom Synagogue,
recently hosted Scout Shabbat at the Farmington Hills synagogue. Jewish War
Veterans were honored for their service to our country. Area scouts ranging
from Cub Scout to Life Scout were honored for their achievements. Jewish Girl
Scout Troop 71613 has been formed, and they attended as well. They meet at
Congregation Shaarey Zedek in Southfield.
Rabbi Aaron Bergman led an educational and entertaining d'var Torah on the
topic of honor. Troop 364 and Pack 613 are the Jewish Scout groups for Boy Scouts
and Cub Scouts in Metropolitan Detroit. For more information, contact Louis
Sugarman at lousug@yahoo.com or (248) 376-4329.

Grosfeld Family Fund For

Psychoanalysis Established
A $2.1 million gift has been pledged
by the Grosfeld family to the Michigan
Psychoanalytic Institute (MPI) to help
patients — children, adolescents and adults
— who would benefit from psychoanalysis
but cannot afford it. To this end, the fund
will disburse $300,000 each year for the
next seven years to sustain these psycho-
analytic treatments.
Psychoanalysis, the discipline introduced
by Sigmund Freud and developed by oth-
ers, is a powerful tool to understand human
mental functioning. Using this knowledge,
it also is an intensive psychological treat-
ment specifically tailored to promote
self-awareness, release thwarted potential,
change maladaptive patterns and develop
satisfying relationships to live life to the
fullest.
"Our goal with the Grosfeld Family Fund
for Psychoanalysis is to make it possible for
everyone to have the help they need:' said
donor James Grosfeld of Bloomfield Hills.
As a result of effective treatment, the
quality of life for these individuals will be
improved, and they can be helped to reach
their full potential and use their talents.
Their future contributions will enrich our
entire community and allow us all to reap
the positive benefits that psychoanalysis can
produce:'
Most eligible applicants with demon-
strable financial need already are in psy-
chotherapy with a Michigan Psychoanalytic
Institute (MPI) graduate analyst in good
standing.

If MPI receives more requests than can
be accommodated, a fair and transparent
lottery will be held to determine which
applicants will be selected. Applicants not
selected will be considered if additional
places become available. The process will be
completely confidential.

Friendship Circle App Helps
Those With Special Needs
In an effort to continue to help the spe-
cial needs community, Friendship Circle
has launched a website called the Special
Needs App Review to help sort through
the hundreds of special needs apps avail-
able.
With so many apps available, it is over-
whelming to find and choose the right
one. The Friendship Circle App Review
gives users the ability to go to one site and
peruse the many different special needs
apps in categories such as communication,
social skills, life skills, behavior, educa-
tion, scheduling and games. The user can
search via an app by name, category, key-
word or price.
At Friendship Circle, we always strive
to make life easier for parents of children
with special needs:' said Bassie Shemtov,
director of Friendship Circle. "This App
Review site is another step to streamline
the information overload that is out there
and help parents identify apps that will
ultimately help them feel more organized
and help their children learn in an easier
way:'
To access the app, go to www.
friendshipcircle.org/apps.
