returns to Detroit Public
Television (WTVS-TV
Channel 56) with its
28th season. Hosted by
Baskin
Henry Baskin of the
Baskin Law Firm in Birmingham, the pro-
gram features discussion of legal and pub-
lic interest topics of interest to southeast
Michigan. The show airs each Friday at
5:30 p.m. on Detroit Public Television.

Mark Davidoff of West
Bloomfield has been
reappointed to the
Child Abuse and
Neglect Prevention
Board by Gov. Rick
Snyder. He is the
Michigan managing
Davidoff
partner for Deloitte LLP
and partner for Deloitte Financial
Advisory Services LLP's forensic and dis-
pute services. He previously served as
executive director, chief operating officer
and chief financial officer for the Jewish
Federation of Metropolitan Detroit.
Appointees will serve three-year terms
that expire Dec. 19, 2015.

The Wayne State University Division of
Development and Alumni Affairs has
announced the appointment of Terry
Margolis as the associate vice president
for individual giving and campaign
director. She previously served as the
director of Executive and Professional
Development and Educational Outreach
at WSU.

ichigan Jewish Sports Foundation is
pleased to announce Sari Cicurel has
been named its director of commu-
nity relations. Cicurel graduated from
Michigan State University with a bach-
elor's degree in telecommunications and
has an extensive background in public
relations and marketing, as well as tele-
vision and video production. She was a
board member of the Jewish Federation
of Metropolitan Detroit. She also serves
as the public relations specialist for the
Berman Theatre for the Performing Arts
in West Bloomfield.

Cindy Ludwig of
Bloomfield Hills, an
educator for more than
25 years and a rehabili-
tative cognitive thera-
pist has written a self-
help book, Reading in

the Raw: Unlocking Your
Reading Genius, which
provides strategies to dramatically
increase retention from reading. While
working with neuropsychologists, occu-
pational, speech and vision specialists,
she observed the different ways individu-
als retrieve information and how the
brain translates the collected data into
comprehension, which became the foun-
dation of her reading skills program
where students recognize certain pat-
terns, organize information and redirect
their learning via metacognition.

Barry Goodman, co-
founder and senior
partner of Southfield-
based personal injury
firm, Goodman Acker
P.C., was recently elect-
ed by the Democratic
State Central
Goodman
Committee to a seat on
the Democratic
National Committee (DNC). Goodman
will serve in his role with the DNC for a
four-year term. He is one of only seven
elected members in Michigan.

Lupovitch To Head
Cohn-Haddow Center

Professor Howard N. Lupovitch has been
named director of the Cohn-Haddow Center
for Jewish Studies at Wayne State University
in Detroit beginning June 1. He will also
serve as an associate professor of history. He
will succeed the current director, Professor
David Weinberg, who is retiring.
Lupovitch holds the
Waks Family Chair of
Jewish History at the
University of Western
Ontario. This semester,
he is also the Padnos
Distinguished Visiting
Professor of Judaic
Lupovitch
Studies at the University
of Michigan. He is well
known in Metro Detroit as a lecturer on
Jewish history, speaking at Federation-
sponsored classes and other venues.
Lupovitch received his bachelor's and
master's degrees in history from U-M
and his doctorate in Jewish History from
Columbia University in New York City.
He speaks Hebrew, Yiddish, Hungarian,
German, French and Latin.
Lupovitch lives in West Bloomfield
with his wife, Marni, and daughters Dahvi
and Hanna and reads Torah weekly at
Congregation Beth Ahm.
