Golf was his passion but he decided to give it up at the age of 88 because playing 36 holes of golf a day was not enough exercise. Until recently, he played tennis daily. Doc leaves behind his beloved wife of 33 years, Les-Lee Roland. He was the cherished father of Marc (Sari) Roland, Marcie (Dale) Lebow of West Bloomfield, and Kimberly (Michael) Summers of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; the lov- ing grandfather of Randi (Steve) Fried, Robyn (Bryan) Weiss, Lindsay (Jason) Brumbelow, Michael Lebow, and Jacob and Chloe Summers; proud great-grand- father of Ella and Ari Fried, Hayley and Mitchell Weiss, and Isaac Brumbelow; cherished cousin of Ruby Tompkins. He was the loving brother of the late Dr. Martin Rosensweet and the late Shirley Davis. Doc will be honored at a memo- rial service on Sunday, Feb. 10, 1 p.m. at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield. JACK SOLWAY, 85, of Surfside, Fla., formerly of Bloomfield Hills, died Jan. 22, 2013. He was born in Windsor, Ontario. Jack played basketball while attending Assumption Solway College in Windsor and graduated with a degree in civil engineering from the University of Detroit. He married Merle in 1950 and they settled in Detroit. Although a Canadian citizen, Jack served in the Philippines for the American Army during the Korean War. Golf was his passion and he was a mem- ber of Tam-O-Shanter Country Club for almost 50 years. He loved watching sports, traveling and dining. Mr. Solway was a co-founder of Gordon Sel-way Construction Company, 1953 to 1989. Until last year, he worked with his son Bob at Merlyn Construction and on many major projects throughout the Detroit Metropolitan area. He was a member of Congregation Shaarey Zedek. He was a very generous man, who never turned down any organization or person in need. Mr. Solway is survived by his wife of 62 years, Merle Solway; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Solway and Dr. Lisa Braun of Huntington Woods, Richard Solway and Dr. Tamar Schlick; daughter and son-in-law, Judith and Andrew Jennings; twin granddaugh- ters, Samantha and Sophia Jennings; grandson, David Jennings; sister, Ethel Sieman; sister-in-law, Jeanette Solway; brother-in-law, Wolfe Shuman; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great- nephews and many devoted friends.
