Shir Shalom's Chicken Soup Cook Off attracts hundreds.

ore than 400 people attended the third annual Shir Shalom Chicken Soup
Cook Off on a chilly but bright, sunny day on Sunday, Jan. 27. The event took
place at The Corner's in West Bloomfield, where people from all over the com-
munity tasted more than 30 varieties of chicken soup made from amateur entrants to
professionals.
Some children even got into the fun of making chicken soup, with the preschool chil-
dren of Temple Shir Shalom's the Learning Center spending a day preparing soup.
"The kids had a fantastic time! This was our third year participating, and we are

thrilled that we won the People's Choice Award! For these kids it's a wonderful learning
experience and we look forward to being a part of it next year:' said Marsha Mitnick,
Learning Center director.
Danny Raskin of the Jewish News was on hand yet again to taste the various soups and
Bob Willow of Steve's Deli was interviewed by Fox TV before the event. Steve's Deli won
the overall top honors for a second year in a row. Other winners included Hiller's Market
and Elwin and Company.
The event raised $5,000.
