New Skills

JVS and ORT
to offer online
computer classes.

j

VS is now offering a wide
range of online computer
training courses through
the David B. Hermelin ORT
Resource Center.
Online courses provide indi-
viduals from students to seniors
with training in programs such as
Introduction to Microsoft Word
2010, Excel, QuickBooks, Digital
Literacy and Project Management
Fundamentals.
The online learning advantage
is the ability to start courses
as needed and to choose from
more than 350 titles, ranging
from business to skilled trades.
Students with a passing score
will be awarded a certificate of
completion.
The courses are available
at regular intervals and most
courses cost $95. A full range
of computer training is avail-
able in Microsoft Office 2010.
Students can learn Word, Excel,
PowerPoint, graphic design and
various Adobe programs used at
work or at home.
Online courses are a way to
quickly improve skills and earn
continuing education credits.
Program offerings may be
viewed at http://www.ed2go.com/
hermelinort/.
"We recognize that for many
professionals looking for work,
hoping to change their career
path or re-entering the workforce
after a long absence, a lack of
computer skills can be a major
hurdle," said JVS Executive Vice
President/C00 Leah Rosenbaum.
"This is not only a great alter-
native for those people, but is also
ideal for employed professionals
and stay-at-home parents or retir-
ees who simply wish to brush up
on their computer skills."
The David B. Hermelin ORT
Resource Center also offers com-
puter training through classroom
learning and private tutoring.
For more information, call
Lisa Bahm, enrollment adviser,
at www.hermelinort.org or (248)
432-5411. The Hermelin Center
is located at 6600 W. Maple Road,
West Bloomfield.
