Residents, staff and the general Jewish community wel- comed musicians Rennie Kaufmann and Avy Schreiber, and children added lively play during candle-lighting cel- ebrations at several residences. Speeches and readings, including one by Rabbi Jason Miller, were followed by a candlelight vigil outside the school. I t was standing room only at the Woodward Avenue Shul in Huntington Woods as 12 chil- dren, ages 3-12, performed in The Other Side of Woodward. This new, original Chanukah play by Marcia Fishman, with words and music by Hedy Blatt, tells the story of the Dreidels and the Latkes, who live across the street from one another but don't get along — that is, until they realize they can save Chanukah by working together. The cast included Eilon Adelson, 7; Olivia Adelson, 8; Chanah Amzalak; Mushka Amzalak, 8; Charles Atias Gorcyca, 5; Eli Gordon, 10; Gabriel Gordon, 7; Joseph Gordon, 12; Chaya Hadar; Sara Gabriel and Eli Gordon, Mushka Amzalak and Charles Atias Gorcyca Hadar, 3; Yossi Hadar, 6; Zahava Hadar, 8; Briya Sigler, 4; Maliya Sigler, 7; and Ari Wolfson, 12, all of Huntington Woods. Scenery was by April Sigler; props by Susie Eliades; helpers were Isabella Adelson and Danielle Sigler. After the play, the cast and audience was treated to a Chanukah meal catered by Rabbi Chanoch Hadar. Arts and crafts tables were also "a hit" in the shul lobby before and after the production.
