DVD Lecture Series
Examines Mysticism
Congregation Beth
Ahm in West will
launch a 24-part
adult learning series
on DVD featuring
lectures on "Mystical
Tradition: Judaism,
Christianity and
Professor
Islam" by Professor
Johnson
Luke Timothy
Johnson of Emory
University School of Theology. Beth
Ahm Ritual Assistant Nancy Kaplan
will lead a brief discussion after the
lecture. The free series will be present-
ed on Wednesdays at 1 p.m. starting
Jan. 2. Walk-ins are welcome.
The course examines the tradition
of mysticism within the major Western
religions. Jewish mystics found their
place within a community of halakhic
observance; Christian mystics are fre-
quently located within monastic com-
munities; and in Islam, Sufi fellow-
ships support the practices that enable
a personal quest for the divine.
For a complete schedule of lecture
topics and screening dates, visit www.
cbahm.org or contact Nancy Kaplan,
