New Year's Eve Happenings

he Yenta asked her friends where the best places to be are this New
Year's Eve. Many, such as Linda Finkelberg of Huntington Woods, will
be home celebrating with friends. But for those who like to paint the
town, Mindy Krigel of West Bloomfield recommends St. Andrew's Hall in
Downtown Detroit for the Ball at the Hall sponsored by ComePlayDetroit.
(Tickets: $25-$75, available at LiveNation.com ). You can also celebrate
New Year's Eve Motor City style at "The Drop" in Downtown Detroit at
Compuware and Hard Rock Cafe (Tickets $100 and up; info http://
motorcitynye.com ). Also Downtown, join the Detroit Princess Riverboat
for a "Rock The Boat" New Year's Eve cruise ($65; board at 8 p.m., cruise
at 10). The Filmore Theatre in Downtown is offering the Resolution Ball.
Entertainment includes high-wire acrobats and roving illusionists, a mid-
night buffet with pizza and Coney dogs, and a champagne toast as well
as six big screens tuned to Times Square (Tickets: $30 for late-night pass
to VIP tickets for $100). The Magic Bag in Ferndale is having a "Mega '80s
New Year's Eve Bash" ($25 starting at 8 p.m.). Have fun and be safe!
