Who's New At
Moishe House

M

eet the new residents of Moishe House, who join "old-
timer" Ariella Morrison, a Detroit native and graduate of the
University of Michigan, who is in her second year at Wayne
State University Law School.

Michael
Baum
"I am so excited

to be a part of
the Motor City
Moishe House and
the revitalization
of Detroit!" says
Baum. "Although I was born and
raised in the suburbs and went out-
of-state for college, after graduating, I
returned home because Detroit is the
best place to be!"
Baum serves as treasurer for local
nonprofit Summer in the City, which
provides fun, flexible and fulfilling
volunteer opportunities throughout
the city of Detroit. He's also a staff
accountant with PulteGroup and is
taking accounting classes in pursuit of
his master's degree and CPA license.

Meredith
Cohen

"Raised in the
Detroit suburbs, I
am so excited to
finally get to know
the heart and soul
of the city," says
Cohen, a proud Spartan, Wolverine
and Warrior. She works Downtown
as a child welfare attorney, fighting
to keep kids out of the foster care
system.
"I am passionate about the work
I do, but I'm also passionate about
enjoying life outside of work as well.
I love reading (come to our book
club!), learning to cook (come to
Shabbat dinners!), biking, exploring
new places close to home, traveling,
practicing yoga and spending time
with the amazing people in my life.
Family, friends and establishing
a close community are of great
importance to me, and through living
in the Moishe House, I hope I can
help to strengthen the Detroit Jewish
community."

Jared
Goldberg

Born and raised in
West Bloomfield,
Goldberg is a
2007 graduate of
the University of
Michigan with a

degree in general biology and history.
He is currently a second-year medical
student at Wayne State University
School of Medicine in Detroit, where
he is in a leadership position for the
Emergency Medicine Interest Group,
Medical Students for Choice and the
Jewish Medical Student Association.
"My interests include science (in
general), medicine (more specifically),
history (especially Jewish history,
both worldwide and locally, as in
Michigan/Detroit), politics, current
events, reading, Michigan football
and basketball, the Lions, Pistons,
Tigers, Red Wings, racquetball, ultimate
Frisbee, lifting weights (which med
school has put a damper on) and many
others," he says. "I look forward to an
awesome time in the Moishe House!"

born and raised

Detroit," says
Wodowski, a

to do everything your Bubbie loves to
do: playing cards, reading, cooking for
Shabbat, dancing, speaking Yiddish,
water aerobics and taking walking
tours of Hasidic Brooklyn. The doors
are always open for Havdallah, baking
challahs or just to kvetch!" ❑
