until 6 p.m. at no extra charge. Camp
runs from June 10 to Aug. 29.

Celebrating its 53rd summer, Walden
is a co-ed overnight camp in North-
ern Michigan for ages 7 to 17 in the
state's Lower Peninsula on a pristine
150 acres outside the city of Che-
boygan. Walden stretches along Long
Lake, a clear, sand-bottom spring-fed
body of water where campers do
activities in just about any watercraft
you can imagine. As a traditional
summer camp, Walden offers a huge
range of activities in addition to the
waterfront, from sports and arts to
horseback riding and theater. Walden
campers roast marshmallows, sing
songs, stargaze and drink "bug juice."
And they do not-so-traditional stuff,
like mountain biking, lapidary and
yoga. Kids choose their own classes
and, with the guidance of a commit-
ted and highly professional staff, find
out what it's like to be "on their own"
for part of the summer.
