fter a week filled with rock-
et sirens and a bus bomb-
ing, a group of more than
25 Detroiters and friends got together
for a much-needed traditional
Thanksgiving dinner at the home of
Amy and Avishay Nachon.
Thanks to the support of the Jewish
Federation of Metropolitan Detroit
and the leadership of Yoav Raban,
the Nachons and Danielle Longo,
Detroiters here in Israel were able
to enjoy a gourmet meal amongst
friends, new and old, while watching

the Detroit Lions on a live satellite
feed. Watching the Lions lose in typi-
cally spectacular fashion furthered
the sense of being at home.
Federation's "Detroiters in Israel"
group holds social events throughout
the year to help foster a sense of com-
munity among Detroiters who have
made aliyah or who are spending
time in Israel on various programs.
Past events have included Chanukah
celebrations, volunteering, and events
with the Detroit partnership region in
the Central Galilee.
