members and friends.
Mrs. Goldberg was the beloved
wife of the late Sidney Goldberg; the
mother of the late Marshall Goldberg;
the sister of the late Gertrude Brainin
and the late Mildred Shubow.
Contributions may be made to
Henry Ford Hospice or Jewish Senior
Life. Interment took place at the Clover
Hill Park Cemetery in Birmingham.
Arrangements by Dorfman Chapel.

He is sorely missed by his Jewish Hospice & Chaplaincy Network family.

Obituaries

merly of Michigan, died Nov. 25, 2012.
During World War II, Mr. Kaplan
was a corporal and participated
in D-Day. Active from France and
through the Rhine, he received 11
medals. In 2010, he received the
Chevalier, the highest military award
from France, plus the Legion of Honor
award and a Normandy Medal from
France. Mr. Kaplan was a member of
Jewish War Veterans.
An active and lifetime member of
Na'amat, he was also the largest fund-
raiser.
Mr. Kaplan is survived by his
daughter and son-in-law, Maureen

and Dave Stafford of Schereville, Ind.;
daughter-in-law, Paula Kaplan; sister,
Rose Kaluzny of Southfield; sister-in-
law and brother-in-law, Barbara and
Sydney Geller; grandchildren, Scott
and Liz Kaplan, Brandon Kaplan, Eric
and Christie Stafford; great-grandchil-
dren, Jordan Kaplan, Aiden Kaplan,
Gabin Kaplan, Owen Stafford, Ari
Stafford.
Mr. Kaplan was the beloved husband
for more than 50 years of the late Ann
Kaplan; loving father of the late Jeff
Kaplan; dear brother-in-law of the late
Shy Kaluzny.
Services and interment were held
at Machpelah Cemetery in Ferndale.
Arrangements by Hebrew Memorial
Chapel.

Smorgonskiy; great-grandchildren,
Miriam Svidler, Ittai Svidler, Adi
Smorgonskiy.
Mrs. Kucherova was the beloved
wife of the late Yefim Kucherova; lov-
ing mother of the late Irina Kucherova.

MEYER "MIKE"
LEVY, 88, of

Bloomfield Hills,
died Nov. 21, 2012.
After serving in
the Army in the
Pacific Theater dur-
ing World War II,
Levy
he completed his
degree in chemi-
cal engineering at the University
of Illinois. He worked for General
Electric for 30 years, starting his career
in Schenectady, N.Y., where he met
his wife, Leatrice "Lee" Robinson.
Following his retirement, he began a
second career as a tax preparer and
investor.
Mr. Levy was an avid supporter of
the University of Illinois, where a bell
in the carillon bears his name. He was
also an active volunteer with Elfun
Charities, tutoring children in the
Pontiac public schools, and with Meals
on Wheels in Southfield. He enjoyed
golf, bridge, discussing politics with
young people and connecting with
family and friends.
