Holocaust Survivor Group
For Third Generation
The Program for Holocaust
Survivors and Families is start-
ing a 3G group for grandchildren
of Holocaust survivors. This new
group will bring together 3Gs ages
21 and older to learn and share
their family's Holocaust history.
Part of the Program for
Holocaust Survivors and Families
(PHSF), a service of Jewish Senior
Life, is to respond to the need of
our remaining Holocaust survivors
to ensure that their stories are not
forgotten, nor are the memories of
those who perished.
By learning the stories of their
relatives who triumphed over the
horrors of the Holocaust, sub-
sequent generations honor their
heritage and legacy — and learn
important lessons of survival and
resilience, says program director
Dr. Charles Silow.
This program will connect 3Gs
with survivors as well, creating
crucial cross-generational relation-
ships. In addition, the program
will work alongside the 20-Year
Project, a national effort asking
3Gs to share their grandparents'
stories 20 years from now, when
there will be very few survivors
who can tell their own stories.
Deborah Rosenthal, PHSF advi-
sory chair, will support this effort.
Input and ideas are welcome
in shaping the 3G program For
information, feedback or to join
the program, contact Program
coordinator Renee Fein: rfein@
jslmi.org or (248) 592.5028.
