SHARON BETH
MINTZ, 60, of West
Bloomfield, died Nov.
15, 2012.
She is survived
by her mother,
Mildred Mintz of
Southfield; brother,
Mintz
Zelik Stewart Mintz
c. 1987
(James Peterson) of
Brooklyn, N.Y.; cousins, Judy and Terry
Yarber, Peggy Bronstein.
Sharon was the daughter of the late
Lawrence Mintz.
Contributions may be made to
the Jewish Hospice and Chaplaincy
Network. Interment took place
at the Clover Hill Park Cemetery.
Arrangements by Dorfman Chapel.

BEN NATHANSON,
97, of Southfield, died
Nov. 13, 2012.
He was an execu-
tive and owner of
Eastside Shopper for
30 years.
Mr. Nathanson
graduated from
Indiana University. He loved making
music; and, in college, he played clari-
net, saxophone and violin as well as
being a member of the band at Indiana.
He also played in a dance band for col-
lege functions and was a great whistler.
He was president of Phi Beta Delta
and graduated in 1936 with a business
degree. He married the love of his life,
Marian Segal; and in 1941, Charles
Edward "Chuck" Nathanson was born.
Ben supported his family by starting a
network of community shopping news-
papers from the back seat of his car; it
became a thriving enterprise. He wrote
a weekly column in his papers and took
on issues not usually confronted in such
a venue, such as school integration and
the Vietnam War. He sold the papers
eventually and became a licensed stock-
broker and insurance agent.
Mr. Nathanson was also a longtime
member of Temple Beth El and presi-
dent of its men's club; now known as
the Brotherhood.
He is survived by his daughter-in-law,
Dr. Laura Walther Nathanson; grand-
children, Sara and Joaquin Sanchez;
grandson, 3-year-old Diego; devoted
and loving companion, Ethel Marx; and
her daughters, Judy and Joanie; and
their children and grandchildren; his
caregiver, Lynn Johnson.
Mr. Nathanson was the beloved hus-
band of the late Marian Nathanson;
the cherished father of the late Charles
"Chuck" Nathanson.
Interment was at Beth El Memorial
Park Cemetery. Contributions may
be made to Temple Beth El, Ben

89, of West

survived by other loving family mem-
bers and friends.
Marilyn was the beloved wife of the
late Ernest Scher.

of Michigan, The Jewish Hospice and
Chaplaincy Network or to the City of
Hope. Interment took place at the Beth
El Memorial Cemetery in Livonia.

She is survived by

Robert Meltzer, Leslie Shewach, Robyn
Shewach; great-grandchildren, Jordie

Meltzer; sister-in-law and brother-in-
law, Rose Bankler and Henry Shewach;
many loving nieces and nephews and
caregivers.
Mrs. Shewach was the beloved wife
for 62 years of the late Joseph Shewach;
loving mother-in-law of the late Eugene
Zweig; dear sister of the late Sam Banlder.
