today and says he feels great.

Funding Needed
All these programs are funded
through the Leah A. Davidson
Healing Arts Fund, created by
Jeff after Leah's death. So far, the
fund has been supported through
approximately $100,000 in contri-
butions. Jeff would like to see that
amount reach $150,000.
"Several hundred people from all
over the country have already con-
tributed to it:' he said.
The programs the fund supports
have been beneficial and popular.
"The response has been great:'
said Kathleen Hardy, an oncol-
ogy social worker at Karmanos'
Farmington Hills facility. "Having
a chronic disease like the one Leah
had is very stressful. While stress
doesn't cause cancer, it is no friend
to cancer:'
Nick Karmanos, senior vice
president of Institutional Relations
at Karmanos, credits Leah's efforts
and legacy.
"We cannot ignore the fact that
cancer patients have tremendous
emotional and supportive needs
when they receive their diagno-
sis," he said. "Through the Leah
A. Davidson Healing Arts Fund,
Karmanos is truly uniting the best
therapies with much-needed emo-
tional and social support:'
Jeff said he is pleased that Leah's
compassion lives on through these
Karmanos programs.
"Leah was just amazing:' he said.
"She was always a good adviser to
me. She told me to make every day
as good as it can be:'
