Sept. 7 Lindsay (Cooper) and Nic Gilbert of Royal Oak wel- come the birth of their daughter, Kylie Jo. She is the first grandchild for Mark and Jo Cooper of Royal Oak and for Larry and Rita Gilbert of Muskegon. Kylie is the first great- grandchild for Carol Cooper and Dr. Richard Williams of Bloomfield Hills and the late Irving Cooper. Jacob Carl Bayer (Yakov Kalman) will be called to the Torah as a bar mitz- vah on Saturday, Nov. 17, at Temple Shir Shalom in West Bloomfield. He Bayer is the son of Michelle and Dan Bayer and brother of Jaden. Sharing in the simchah will be proud grand- parents Elaine and Ken Feldman, Margi Bayer, and great-grandmother Betsy Bayer Peterman. He is also the grandson of the late Robert Bayer. Jacob attends West Hills Middle School in Bloomfield Hills. For his mitzvah project, he volunteered at and raised money for Almost Home Animal Shelter in West Bloomfield because he found his current dogs through a pet rescue. Abigail Leigh Brickman, daughter of Stacy and Neil Brickman, celebrat- ed her bat mitzvah on Saturday, Nov. 10, at Adat Shalom Synagogue. She is Brickman the sister of Rachel and Isabel. Paull and great-grandmother Belle Fruitman. Allison Jane Licht Mackey will be called to the bimah at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield as she celebrates her bat mitzvah Saturday, Nov. 17. Mackey She is the daughter of Lainy and David Mackey. Her proud grandparents are Maxine and Calvin Mackey, and Arlene Licht. She is also the grand- daughter of the late Ronald Licht. The family is thrilled to have great-grand- mother Rose Mackey with them to share the festivities. Allison is a student at Cranbrook Kingswood Girls Middle School in Bloomfield Hills. She felt it was very meaningful, as a mitzvah project, to participate with Rise International, raising funds to help build schools in Africa. Emily Rachel Meretsky (Yael Ronit), daughter of Amy and Andre Douville and Steven Meretsky and sister of Zachary, Jacob and Elin, was called Meretsky to the Torah on Saturday, Oct. 27, at Congregation Shaarey Zedek in Southfield. Proud are grandparents Suretta and Alan Must, Terri and Bruce Selik, Susan Meretsky, Dr. Robert and Chirle Douville-Glinski, and great-grandmother Rose Selik. Among her many mitzvah projects, feeding the homeless was the most meaningful to her. Jake Ryan Nelson, son of Jodi Nelson and Marc Nelson and brother of Ashley, will celebrate his bar mitz- vah Saturday, Nov. 17, at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield. His Nelson grandparents are Joyce and Elliott Nelson, Rita Starr and the late Joseph Starr. The family is delighted to have great-grandmother Martha Burnstein with them for the simchah. His late great-grandfather is Morris Burnstein. Jake is a student at Novi Middle School. He performed many mitzvah projects but felt donating to Yad Ezra in Berkley was the most meaningful. Levi Mercer Rosett, son of Megan Rosett and Lauren and Jayson Rosett, will lead the congrega- tion at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield Friday, Nov. 16, as he Rosett celebrates his bar mitzvah. He felt it was espe- cially meaningful to donate funds to Beaumont Hospital Cancer Research as part of his mitzvah experience. Sara Seid Thea Seid Sara and Thea Seid will be called to the Torah as b'not mitzvah on Saturday, Nov. 17, at Congregation B'nai Moshe in West Bloomfield. They are the twin daughters of Michelle and Jerome Seid and sisters of Jacob. They are the grandchildren of Ellen Mauss, the late Saralee and Sheldon Bross, and the late Richard Seid. Sara and Thea attend Hillel Day School of Metropolitan Detroit in Farmington Hills. Both girls have par- ticipated in several mitzvah projects. The project that had the most mean- ingful impact on them was their expe- rience as active volunteers for Yad Ezra Kosher Food Pantry in Berkley. Jason Joshua Teper (Yakov Meir) will become a bar mitz- vah at Congregation Shaarey Zedek in Southfield on Saturday, Nov. 17. He is the son of Jennifer Teper and Steve Teper, brother of Melanie and grandson of Anna and Yale Levin, Brenda and Richard Rader, and the late Gerald Teper. Jason is in seventh grade at Hillel Day School of Metropolitan Detroit in Farmington Hills. He participated in several mitzvah projects in conjunc- tion with both Hillel and Shaarey Zedek, but his most meaningful was assisting Forgotten Harvest with pack- aging and labeling food. Lauren Elizabeth Watsky, together with her parents Pam and Randy Watsky and brother Mitchell, will cele- brate her bat mitz- vah Friday, Nov. 16, Watsky at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield. As she reads from the Torah, her proud grandparents Dolores and Maury Bloch, and Hebby Watsky will share in the simchah. She is also the grandchild of the late Bubbles Watsky and the great-grandchild of the late Yetta Mednick. Lauren is a student at 0.E Dunckel Middle School in Farmington Hills. She volunteered at Fleishman's Senior Tea Time in West Bloomfield and felt this mitzvah project was very worthwhile. Dylan Alexander Wittenberg, son of Lisa and Alan Wittenberg, will read from the Torah on the occasion of his bar mitzvah Saturday, Nov. 17, at Wittenberg Temple Israel in West Bloomfield. He is the brother of Max and Elle. His proud grandparents are Ellen and Allen Apfelblat, Eileen and Sidney Bradley, and Carol and Larry Wittenberg. He is the great-grandson of Ruben Katz. His late great-grand- parents are Bessie Katz, Rose and Sam Stewart, Estelle and David Wittenberg, and Hinda and Louis Apfelblat. Dylan is a student at West Hills Middle School in Bloomfield Hills. His donation to the Susan G. Komen Foundation in memory of Suzanne Bartholowmew is the mitzvah project he feels most meaningful to him.
