The website, www.heifer.org/ heifer-at-hanukkah, has just been launched, and shoppers can go there to honor a loved one — from Abba to Zaide — with a cow, goat, chicks or bees to help an impoverished family move from dependence to indepen- dence. Heifer's mission is to end hunger and poverty by providing 30 kinds of livestock, trees, seeds and training in environmentally sound agriculture to families in more than 42 countries, including the United States, Nepal, China, Brazil, Rwanda and Armenia. Mark Feuerstein, best known as the star of USA Network's Royal Pains, and Ed Asner, the Jewish actor best known for his roles in The Mary Tyler Moore Show and the Pixar film Up, are fea- tured in a family-friendly video on the site. In the video, Feuerstein dresses up as a Heifer — the gift that Asner plans to give his granddaughter, which will provide an impov- erished family with four gallons of milk a day.
