Shaarey Zedek's generations celebrate together.

C

ongregation Shaarey Zedek was
the place to be on Saturday night,
Oct. 27, as multiple generations
of the 150-year-old synagogue celebrated
the culmination of its anniversary year
together.
Following the crush of people — 1,000
before the night ended — into the main
foyer in front of the sanctuary led directly
to a massive display of sushi that seemed
to replenish itself magically.
Soon, before the crowd became too
unwieldy for the space, doors opened into
a social hall featuring the jazz-inspired
music of Sean Blackman and Wayne
Gerard's Sin Hielo. Crowds lined up at
foods stations there, while others sat at tall
cabaret tables mixing, mingling and taking
in the mellow ambiance.
An hour later, the other social hall
opened to reveal cozy white couches along
one wall and scattered throughout. More
food stations kept hunger away and gave
fuel to those who later would dance to the
energetic vibe of Your Generation Fifty

got up on stage to sing with the band.
Shaarey Zedek President Steve Margolin
took the stage at one point to toast to the
synagogue's 150th anniversary and its
future.
Another group of people kept up with
one of the Tigers' playoff game in front of a
big screen TV in the entrance hall.
There truly was something for everyone.
"It was a fantastic way to end our 150th
yearlong celebration and a perfect bridge
to our next 150 years," said Margolin. "We
are indebted to our hard-working staff and
volunteers and our generous donors who
made this incredible evening possible:'
Event Chair Suzi Terebelo, who worked
with Host Committee members Jeri
Fishman, Mary Knoll, Milton Feldberg and
Leah Moss, said, "It took a CSZ loving vil-
lage of very generous sponsors who helped
create this party: Quality Kosher Catering,
Star Trax, Gerych's, Display Group,
Fabulous Events, Steve Coden Flower Shop,
Digital Dan Photography & Videography,
Just Baked, Shutter Booth, Fathead and the
Jewish News."
