The homeowners preferred

colors for the living room
but didn't want the home

Long's solution was to

add a lot of texture and
tones on tones to create

warmth and dimension.
The 13-foot fireplace

curves into a subtle arc

and shimmers with split-
face limestone while LED

lights further illuminate
the marble surround. The

once-cased-in wall was
opened to create one

enormous window with
views of the lake. "The

room can be entered from
every other room," says

Long. "We wanted the
furniture to feel like it

was floating rather than
being in the way so people

can come in, sit and talk,

enjoy the view, watch
TV or just curl up on the
