Emily Rachel Meretsky (Yael Ronit), daughter of Amy and Andre Douville and Steven Meretsky, and sister to Zachary, Jacob and Elin, was called Meretsky to the Torah on Saturday, Oct. 27, at Congregation Shaarey Zedek in Southfield. Proud are grandparents Suretta and Alan Must, Terri and Bruce Selik, Susan Meretsky, Dr. Robert and Chink Douville-Glinski, and great-grandmother Rose Selik. Jillian Emma Morse, daughter of Harriet and Michael Morse and sister of Lexie and Ella, will read from the Torah on the occasion of her bat mitzvah Morse Saturday, Nov. 10, at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield. Her grandparents are Sharon Radom, and Susan Morse and Ed Geren. She is also the grand- child of the late Joel Morse. Jillian is a student at Cranbrook Kingswood Girls Middle School in Bloomfield Hills. Her most meaning- ful mitzvah project was participating in all of the Farmington Hills-based JARC holiday events over the past few years. Joseph Nathan Schechter will be called to the Torah as a bar mitzvah Saturday, Nov. 10, at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield. He is the son of Kim and Schechter Larry Schechter. Joining in the simchah will be his sister Carla and brother Noah. He is the grandson of Jerry Gurwin and the late Lee Gurwin, Dorothy Schechter-Hoyt and the late Joe Schechter, and the late Dr. Ivan Hoyt. Joey is a seventh grader at O.E. Dunckel Middle School in Farmington Hills. It is the parent that must put the child before all else, and make a financial commitment because they know whether their child wants braces or not, it is the "right" thing to do.
