RITA RHODA
SCHECHTER, 87, of

Toledo, Ohio, died Oct.
21, 2012.
She was born in
Brooklyn, N.Y., on
March 26, 1925, to
Dorothy and Morris
Schechter
Reiskin and was raised
as a devout Brooklyn Dodger fan, devoted
daughter and sister. She graduated with
honors from Brooklyn College.
She met and married the love of her
life, Jack Schechter, in 1947. Together
they made their home, had three children
and a wonderful life together in Toledo,
Ohio. Following Jack's death in 1981, Mrs.
Schechter remained active in the Toledo
community, including working for the
Democratic Party, the League of Women
Voters, Hadassah and the Toledo Museum
of Art. She worked professionally in the
Toledo jewelry business, played golf and
bridge, and traveled extensively until
she became ill. She was a life member of
Hadassah, a voracious reader and a con-
verted Detroit Tigers supporter.

Mrs. Schechter took great pride in her
grandchildren and gave and received
much love and imparted wisdom to
all she touched. She was generous and
appreciated the gifts that all people pos-
sess. She loved being with her family,
laughing and reminiscing.
Mrs. Schechter is survived by her
children, Patti and Steven Tapper, and
Michael and Lisa Tapper; grandchildren,
Heather and her husband, Paul, Julia,
Shayna, Alex, Josh, Nate and Will; great-
grandchildren, Reid and Stella.
Interment was at Ottawa Hills
Memorial Park in the Garden of Love
in Toledo, Ohio. Contributions may be
made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of

JACK SHIFFMAN, 83,

of Farmington Hills,
died Oct. 27, 2012.
He is survived by his
wife of 61 years, Lorraine
Shiffman; daughters
and son-in-law, Randie
Rossman of Commerce,
Shiffman
and Cindy and Dr. Arnold
Wolf of West Bloomfield; grandchildren,
David Rossman and Matthew Shuman,
Lindsey and Daniel Canvasser, Amanda
Wolf and Eric Wolf; sisters and brothers-
in-law, Rita and Sandy Kaplan of West
Bloomfield, Geraldine and Saul Lazare, also
of West Bloomfield; many loving nieces,
nephews, cousins and a world of friends.
Mr. Shiffman was the cherished brother
of the late Ralph and the late Natalie
Shiffman, the late Sam and the late Mary
Shiffman, and the late Annette and the late
Jerry Furstenberg.
Interment was at Clover Hill Park
Cemetery. Contributions may be made to

MICHAEL A. ZAMLER, 60, of Royal Oak,

died Oct. 23, 2012.
He was a self-employed food wholesaler.
Mr. Zamler is survived by his daughter,
Cortney Zamler of Farmington Hills; son,
Ryan Zamler of West Bloomfield; former
wife and best friend, Sandy Zamler; broth-
ers and sisters-in-law, Gene and Carol
Zamler, and Steven and Fran Zamler;
nieces and nephews.
He was the devoted son of the late
Albert and the late Nettie Zamler; the lov-
ing brother of the late Chuck Zamler.
Interment was at Machpelah Cemetery.
