Rob Cohon of West Bloomfield has
been appointed to the National Multiple
Sclerosis Society Board of Directors for
the Michigan Chapter. He will spend his
time primarily in the areas of fundrais-
ing (focusing on clinical and medical
research funds). He will work closely
with staff to mobilize resources to drive
research for additional and better thera-
pies, which will hopefully someday lead
to a cure.

Mindjet CEO Scott Raskin, son of IN
writer Danny Raskin, was honored with
a Silver Stevie Award for Executive of
the Year — Computer Software. With
more than two decades of tech experi-
ence, Raskin has used his strategic
vision to evolve Mindjet to a cross-plat-
form provider of collaborative tools and
work management software. The results
have fueled the customer base to more
than 2 million paid users and 1 million
mobile users worldwide.

Sherry Gilman Orbach entered one of
the photos from her photography exhibit
in Huntington Woods in an "open corn-
petition artists' call" and won best in

show. The work was recently exhibited
at the U-M Dearborn Alfred Berkowitz
Gallery.

Dr.Thomas L. Slovis,
FACR, chief of Pediatric
Imaging of Children's
Hospital of Michigan,
accepted the Gold
Medal from the
Michigan Radiological
Society at the Henry
Slovis
Center in Lansing.
Slovis has been highly
recognized in the field of pediatric
imaging both nationally and interna-
tionally. Among his many awards are the
Presidential Recognition Award,
American Institute of Ultrasound in
Medicine and the Clinical Faculty
Award, Wayne State University.

Valerie Newman,

Newman
honored by the
Appellate Defender
Commission as the first recipient of the
Thomas Award for Excellence in
Appellate Advocacy.

Carley Sirlin, of Hertzelya Israel, for-
merly of West Bloomfield, has accepted
a position with the Air Force Division of
the IDF. She will work in the Education
Department, teaching English to the
pilots and soldiers and will be the rank
of captain. Sirlin is completing her
master's degree in linguistics at Tel Aviv
University. She is a graduate of Hillel
Day School, Andover High School and
Michigan State University.

Jonathan Citrin, founder and chief
executive officer of the CitrinGroup,
has been appointed a member of the
Birmingham Community House Board
of Directors. Citrin is also chairman of
the CitrinGroup Investment Advisory
Board and an adjunct faculty of finance
at Wayne State University's School of
Business Administration.

He will represent business, industry and
labor for a term that expires Dec. 31,
2015.

Former Detroiter Joel Danto of Los
Angeles will open his very first pho-
tography show, "From Another World,"
on Nov. 3 at Artist's Corner Gallery in
Hollywood, Calif. It's a dual display fea-
turing work from Joel and his dad. In all
their adventures together, their favorite
thing is scuba diving. They've shot a
variety of underwater photography that
will make even the most casual viewer
see the ocean depths in a new light.

West Bloomfield High
Presents Radium Girls
The West Bloomfield Theatre Arts
Programs will present the play Radium
Girls on Thursday, Friday and Saturday,
Nov. 1-3, at the high school at 4925
Orchard Lake Road. All performances
are at 7:30 p.m.
The play traces the fatal tragedy of
the factory women of the U.S. Radium
Corporation in 1926.
Tickets are $10 and are available at the
