The Nazis famously tried to denigrate Albert Einstein's
theory of relativity by calling it"Jewish science."

When the Nazis entered the Warsaw Ghetto
on Passover eve, April 19, 1943, they expected some
rumbling, but for the most this would be a clean,
easy operation to empty the area.

What is "Jewish science"?

Einstein was working at the same time that Jewish
writers and artists like Freud, Schoenberg and Tzara
were radically changing their fields. Writers were trying to understand what
it meant to be Jewish in an urban industrialized world. How does science
influence politics, religion, philosophy and history?

Instead, they found a small but determined army
of Jewish men and women. Using little more than
pistols and Molotov cocktails, this daring group
managed to hold back the Nazis, under the command
of SS Gen. Juergen Stroop, until May 16.

The Warsaw Ghetto Uprising was the largest Jewish uprising during
World War II and a symbol of bravery and heroism. Until now, though,
the complete story of the uprising was never known.
