Tikkun °lam galvanizes Jews into action to promote causes of social

justice to heal, repair and transform the world. The American Jewish
community has long been at the forefront in many struggles fighting
for fairness and equality: supporting women's suffrage, ending racial
discrimination and implementing work-place protections.

The strength of the American labor movement is a reflection of making
the values of tikkun olarn real for working families. That's why Jews
have taken on union leadership roles - disproportionate to our size in
the general population from the earliest days of the American labor
movement until today. Our voice, our commitment and our values have
resulted in fair wages, safe working conditions and a strong middle class.

Tikkun olarn is our guide toward building a fair society. Collective
bargaining is our process toward promoting fairness in the workplace.
