o n October is National Orthodontic Health Month! Ask the Orthodontist Julia Clare Abramson of West Bloomfield will celebrate her bat mitzvah on Saturday, Oct. 27. Her proud parents and brothers are Abramson Jay and Joanna, Josh, Jacob and Jonathan Abramson. Her grandparents are Janet and Fred Borson of West Bloomfield, the late Julius Abramson, and Walter and Margaret Stark of Bloomfield Hills. Julia attends Hillel Day School of Metropolitan Detroit in Farmington Hills. She has volunteered to collect dog and cat food for area animal shel- ters as one of many mitzvah projects. Benjamin Zachary Fisher, son of Lisa and Jay Fisher, will be called to the 1 Torah as a bar mitz- vah on Saturday, Oct. 27, at Adat Shalom Synagogue in Benjamin Farmington Hills. He Fisher is the brother of Jessica and Daniel. Sharing in the simchah will be proud grandparents Susan and Edward Cherniak, and Lorraine and Arnold Fisher. Ben is an eighth-grade student at Birmingham Covington School. He feels his most meaningful mitzvah project was working and playing with children at the Friendship Circle in West Bloomfield. Jessica Paige Fisher, daughter of Lisa and Jay Fisher, will cele- brate her bat mitzvah at Adat Shalom Synagogue in West Bloomfield on Saturday, Oct. 27. She Jessica Fisher is the sister of Ben and Daniel. Sharing in the simchah will be proud grandpar- ents Susan and Edward Cherniak, and Lorraine and Arnold Fisher. Jessie is a seventh-grade student at Birmingham Covington School. Her most meaningful mitzvah project was fundraising for and donating time to the Michigan Animal Rescue League. Zachary Drew Goldberg, son of Lori and Kevin Goldberg and broth- er of Erin, will read from the Torah on the occasion of his bar mitzvah Friday, Goldberg Oct. 26, at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield. His proud grandparents are Jane and Seymour Weiner, Linda Goldberg and Harold Goldberg. Zachary attends O.E. Dunckel Middle School in Farmington Hills. He made a donation to SMA, Spinal Muscular Atrophy, and felt this was a meaningful mitzvah project. Zack Henry Goldman, son of Amy and Kevin Goldman and broth- er of Max, will be called to the bimah in celebration of his bar mitzvah at Goldman Temple Israel in West Bloomfield on Friday, Oct. 26. Sharing in the simchah will be grandparents Judi and Barry Freund, and Margo and Michael Goldman. Zack is a student at Abbott Middle School in West Bloomfield. He vol- unteered at Friendship Circle in West Bloomfield and felt this was very meaningful. Paige Samantha Hackman will cele- brate her bat mitz- vah on Saturday, Oct. 27, at Temple Beth El in Bloomfield Township. She is the daughter of Debbie Hackman and Chris Hackman and the sister of Alayna and Noah. Paige is thrilled to have her grandparents Naomi and Marvin Katz, and Judy and Robert Hackman celebrate with her. Paige is in seventh grade at Clifford Smart Middle School in Walled Lake. For her mitzvah project, she is a madricha at Temple Beth El religious school. Blake William Israel will celebrate his bar mitzvah as he reads from the Torah at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield on Saturday, Oct. 27. His parents are Lisa Israel Pernick and Bruce Israel. Sharing in the simchah will be his brothers Jack and Evan and grandmothers Betty Pernick and Harriet Israel. He is also the grandchild of the late Judge Joseph Pernick and the late Sid Israel. Blake attends Detroit Country Day School in Southfield. Raising funds for Almost Home, a no-kill animal shelter, was the mitzvah project he felt was the most meaningful. During October, members of the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) conduct a wide range of activities to educate orthodontists and their patients about protecting their teeth during Halloween, as well as share information about the benefits of orthodontic treatment.
