Haley's Garden
Adat Shalom students tend the garden
they created to memorialize their friend.

. ' n April 2010, one of our dear friends
lost her life to cancer," said Lauren
Novick, 14, of Bloomfield Hills. 'As
a class at Adat Shalom Synagogue, we all
decided to make her a memorial. We start-
ed in the summer of 2010. We decided to
create a garden on the Adat Shalom play-
ground because Haley's love of nature and
butterflies was so great.

Haley Nathan was the daughter of Emily

NCJW annual event honors leaders, educates audience about fighting hunger.
ore than 320 people recently attended the National Council of Jewish
Women, Greater Detroit Section's 2012 Women of Vision benefit luncheon
at Temple Beth El in Bloomfield Township. Attendees this year had the
opportunity to hear keynote speaker Lauren Bush Lauren explore her shift from her
career as a top model to one in philanthropy. She is the chief FEEDer and co-founder
of FEED Projects and chairman of the board and co-founder of The FEED Foundation,
Leonard Zucker, husband of the late Marsha Zucker, and Gilda Jacobs, both
of Huntington Woods, accepted awards along with Patti Nemer of West
Bloomfield, Michelle Passon of Commerce and Sandy Schwartz of Franklin;
