A Night To Remember

Gabe Neistein
Special to the Jewish News

I

t was a reunion 110 years in the making. During
Rosh Hashanah weekend, 200 Tamarack alumni
gathered at Camp Maas in Ortonville in celebra-
tion of Tamarack's 110th anniversary. They enjoyed
the opportunity to visit their beloved camp, where so
many childhood memories had been forged, and to
reunite with old camp friends, with whom lifelong
bonds were rekindled.
The evening activities included the chance to visit
their favorite camp spots, a campfire at Fishman
Village with s'mores, and a special 110th anniversary
mural, painted by the participants: It will be dedi-
cated at the Ravitz Foundation Arts Center next sum-
mer. The event culminated with a song session and
Havdalah service led by former Tamarack song leaders
Scott Stern, Cantor Brad Hyman and Dan Frank, as
well as Executive Director Steve Engel. Many alumni
even opted for the complete Tamarack experience and
spent the night.
"The event reminded us of the great role that
camp played in all of our lives," said Tracy Aronoff,
