Ann Arborites Plan
Hike/Walk Trip To Israel
The Jewish Federation of Greater Ann
Arbor will offer a hiking/walking trip
in Israel May 8-18, 2013. The expe-
rience will include hiking in Safed
and the Galilee; exploring archeo-
logical sites in Bar'am, Beit Shean and
Herzilya; celebrating Shavuot in Ann
Arbor's partner community, Moshav
Nahalal; and hiking up to Jerusalem.
Amir Rockman of Gordon Adventure
Tours, who led the successful 2010
bike trip in Israel, will lead the tour.
"Our community has a lot of
sophisticated, well-traveled individu-
als for whom the typical Federation
mission is less interesting;' said David
Shtulman, Federation executive direc-
tor. "Niche trips appeal to people's
specific interests and, in part because
they are smaller, provide a deeper
relationship with Israel's land and
people:'
Three veteran Israel travelers, Joan
Lowenstein and Bob and Laurel Hem,
comprise the trip's coordinating com-
mittee. The Hems participated in the
2010 bike trip.
An informational meeting about
the trip, which is open to all in Metro
Detroit, will be held Sunday, Oct. 14,
at 5:30 p.m. at the JCC in Ann Arbor.
