Interment took place at Adat Shalom Memorial Park Cemetery in Livonia. Arrangements by Dorfman Chapel. PROFESSOR IVAN STARR, 87, of Oak Park, died Aug. 31, 2012. He received his Ph.D. from Yale and was a professor emeritus of classical and mod- em languages at Wayne State University. As a professor of ancient languages, he authored three books and published many papers. He is survived by his brother and sister- in-law, Abraham and Ruth Starinsky; nieces and nephews, Erith and Shimon Kontargi, Tamar Starinsky, Sigil Starinsky- Elbaz and Maor Starinsky, Doron Starinsky; great-nieces and great-nephews, Or and Oz Kontargi, Yuval, Amit, Itai, Noam Elbaz-Starinsky. LEONARD WOLF, 86, of West Bloomfield, died Sept. 16, 2012. He was a dedicated registered pharmacist for more than 40 years. He served his country by enlisting in the Navy Wolf during World War II after graduating high school. His interests were in health, nutrition, finances and try- ing to solve the world's pioblems to bring peace to all mankind. Besides being an avid reader, he was a lifetime learner. A survivor of cancer for many years, it took him away from the family at the end. Mr. Wolf is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ilene Wolf; son and daughter-in- law, Steven and Radyne Wolf of Chicago; daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Douglas Batchelder of Mount Pleasant, and Sherri and Michael Litman of West Bloomfield; grandchildren, Lee, Aaron and Joanne Wolf, Jason and Maria Batchelder, Staci and Jon Hopkins, and Eric and Daniel Litman; great-grandson, Cooper Batchelder, and friends and other family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Arlene Yovis of West Bloomfield; daugh- ters and sons-in-law, Karyn and Stuart Faye of West Bloomfield, Gayle Yovis of West Bloomfield, Dana and Joshua Krut of Hollywood, Fla.; sister, Sandra Kurtz of Sylvan Lake; grandchildren, Samuel Faye, Eden Faye, Benjamin Krut, Leah Krut. Interment took place at the Beth El Memorial Cemetery in Livonia. Arrangements by Dorfman Chapel. L Songwriter Haim Hefer Ynet News — Israeli songwriter Haim Hefer died in Tel Aviv at age 86. Born in Poland in 1925, Hefer immigrated to Israel with his family in 1936. At 17, he joined the Haganah's underground Palmach movement and was sent to Kibbutz Dafna, where he wrote songs about his experiences with Palmach. During this time, he also aided the illegal immigration effort. Later in life, he started writing mate- rials for the theater including songs for such musicals as Kazablan and I Like Mike. Many of his songs were written for the IDF's military bands.
