Walk Of Ages

JSL event enriches lives.

T

he 10th Annual Jewish
Senior Life Walk of Ages
took place on Sunday, Aug.
26, with crowds of people walking 3K
and 5K around the Ring Road loop of
the Applebaum Jewish Community
Campus in West Bloomfield. This
good-spirited, community-build-
ing fundraiser, put on by the JSL
Auxiliary, raises money for "enrich-
ing the quality of the lives of our
older adults, through programs,
holidays and special needs," said JSL
Foundation Director Carol Rosenberg.
"What a wonderful opportunity
to be part of this community and be

blessed to be able to give back," said
Steven Tapper, one of this year's grand
marshals with his brother Howard.
"It is a jewel of an event," said
JSL CEO Rochelle Upfal. "Our older
adults are the crowning jewel of our
community."
The auxiliary has been serving
older adults in our community for 87
years. Geri Margolis, who brought the
event to Detroit and chaired the very
first Walk of Ages, said, "Our goal is
to be there for those that need us. We
love our older adults. We learn from
them. They are our treasures."
