n Aug. 26, more than 550
patrons flocked to Franklin
Hills Country Club for the
organization's biggest annual fundrais-
er Rub-a-Dub, this year themed "ORT
With Friends!'
ORT supporters mingled during
cocktails, bid on hundreds of silent
auction items, dined under the tent,
participated in a live auction, and
socialized well into the evening danc-
ing to the Foster Brooks Band, all
to support ORT's important global
network of schools and training pro-
grams.
Event chairs were Scott Marcus of
Birmingham, Pam Nodel of Orchard
Lake and Seth Rogers of Birmingham.
Brian Hermelin of Bingham Farms
wowed the crowd with his fast-talking
auctioneering skills and helped to
secure more than $75,000 during
the live auction. Fundraising grossed
$300,000, making it the most suc-

cessful Rub-a-Dub in terms of money
raised as well as attendance.
To attract and encourage young
adults, tickets were available at a dis-
counted price for those 35 and under.
"The event could not have been such
a huge success without the support of
so many community members," said
Bubba Urdan of West Bloomfield. "I
am truly fortunate to be the president
of ORT at a time where we are able to
attract so many to help out with our
very simple mission: `ORT educates.'
We educate more than 300,000 stu-
dents globally every year, and no one
is doing it better."
The David B. Hermelin ORT
Resource Center in the Jewish
Community Center in West Bloomfield
provides a local example of ORT's
capability to change lives for the better
through education. For more about
