SARAH ZACK
LEVIN, 100, of
Southfield, died
Sept. 4, 2012.
She was a lit-
erature teacher in
Detroit. She was
also a scholar-

ship chairperson
for Maimonides,
a member of Freilich Freint Yiddish
Club and chair of the National Council
of Jewish Women.
Mrs. Levin is survived by her
sons and daughter-in-law, Raphael
Levin of Southfield, and David and
Nancy Levin of Birmingham; broth-
ers and sister-in-law, Edward Zack
of Florida, and Albert and Ruth Zack
of Farmington Hills; brother-in-law,
Milton Ross; many nieces, nephews,
great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was the beloved wife of the late
Dr. Michael Levin; the loving sister of
the late Ann Ross; the dear sister-in-
law of the late Ruth Zack.
Interment was at Beth El Memorial
Park Cemetery. Contributions may be
made to the National Council of Jewish
Women, Women of Maimonides
Medical Education Fund, 26400 Lahser
Road, Suite 306, Southfield, MI 48033,

DR. JEROME
LEVINE, 84, of
Scottsdale, Ariz.,
born Aug. 31, 1928,
died Sept. 7, 2012,
after a courageous
struggle with ALS
(Lou Gehrig's
Levine
Disease).
He practiced
podiatry for 40 years in the Detroit
area before moving to Tucson, Ariz.,
in 1992. He lectured extensively both
nationally and internationally as well
as mentoring many young podiatrists.
Dr. Levine was a Mason, an active
member of the Diabetes Association,
a member of Temple Chai, ran 16
marathons (beginning at age 50) and
was passionate about skiing. He skied
all over the world, including runs in
his favorite, Sun Valley, on adaptive
skis after he was disabled. He devel-
oped a love of basketball while acting
as the Detroit Pistons team podiatrist
for many years. His other interests
included travel, dining, theater, movies
and listening to jazz.
Most important in his life was his
family. He loved and lived life to its
fullest.
Dr. Levine was born to Alex and
Sarah Levine in Detroit. He was pre-
deceased by his wife, Gloria Krupa
Levine; and brother, Milton Layne.

He is survived by his wife, Madge
Grossman Levine; son, Dr. Stephen
Levine of Salt Springs, Fla.; daugh-
ter, Dr. Lori (Gary Benna) Levine
of Tucson; grandchildren, Gabriel
Powell, Mandara Levine and Kamila
Levine; his brother, Phillip (Norma)
Layne of West Bloomfield. He is also
survived by stepchildren, Mark (Laura
Carruthers) Grossman, Erika (Tony)
Adamo; step-grandchildren, Brooke
Adamo and Billy Adamo; many loving
nieces, nephews and friends.
Services were held in Phoenix,
Ariz. Contributions may be made

LIPMAN, 88, of
Boynton Beach, Fla.,
died Sept. 8, 2012.
He is survived by
his daughter and
son-in-law, Hermi
and Howard Stone;
Lipman
son and daughter-
in-law, Ted and Marcie Lipman; grand-
children, Bradley and Laurette Lipman,
Daniel and Lindsey Lipman, Adam and
Jodi Stone, and Harlan Stone; great-
grandchildren, Eden Lipman, Jack
Lipman, Myla Stone and Noa Lipman.
He is also survived by his loving com-
panion of 20 years, Fern Wallach, and
her children and grandchildren.
Mr. Lipman was the beloved hus-
band of the late Annette R. Lipman.
