roject Chessed is a referral network of health care practitioners
and institutions who partner with Jewish Family Service to
provide pro bono care to low income, medically uninsured
adults ages 19-65 in our community.
The Project Chessed staff screens for eligibility and then
links those eligible with donated health care services. Project Chessed also
provides funds for needed medications for those enrolled in the program.
Thanks to the generosity of The Jewish Fund and other foundations
and individuals, Project Chessed is able to provide a safety net so that
health care is available even for those unable to pay. It has truly meant
the difference between life and death in many cases for those it serves.
The Project Chessed network of physicians is entirely volunteer.
Physicians see patients in their own offices allowing them to volunteer
without ever leaving their own space. We are also extremely fortunate
to have the generous support and partnership of nearly all of the major
health systems in Metro Detroit.
Without these volunteer physicians and our health system partners
it would be impossible for our program to facilitate these resources for
our clients. Thank you is truly inadequate to express the level of grati-
tude that we have for their amazing generosity. Please take a few mo-
ments to read through the names
of our volunteers in this publica-
tion. Each of them is instrumen-
tal in carrying out the mission of
Project Chessed and Jewish Family

We would be remiss to not iden-
tify those foundations that make it
possible for us to carry out our work.
Project Chessed gratefully acknowledges The Jewish Fund, The Jewish
Federation of Metropolitan Detroit, The Slingshot Fund, The Sinai Guild,
The Ravitz Family Foundation, The Jewish Women's Foundation and nu-
merous individuals without whom Project Chessed could not maintain the

infrastructure needed to make this program possible.
