HOWARD JAY LICHTERMAN, 86, of
Scottsdale, Ariz., formerly of Detroit,
died Aug. 27, 2012.
He is survived by his wife, Diana;
children, Douglas (Gabrielle), Nina
and Staci Lichterman; sister, Carole
Jean Weisberger (Bob); granddaughter,
Medore.
Graveside services were held at Mount
Sinai Cemetery, 24210 N. 68th St.,
Phoenix, Ariz. Contributions may be
made to Hospice of Arizona, 19820 N. 7th
Ave., #130, Phoenix, AZ 85027; or to a
charity of one's choice. Arrangements by
Sinai Mortuary of Arizona.
PERRIE POLLAK, of West Bloomfield,
died Aug. 30, 2012.
She was a member of Hadassah and
Congregation B'nai Moshe and its sister-
hood.
Mrs. Pollak is survived by her son, Dr.
Norman Pollak of Birmingham; daughter,
Karen Pollak of West Bloomfield; lov-
ing nieces, nephews, other relatives and
friends.
Mrs. Pollak was the beloved wife of
the late Alexander Pollak; dear sister and
sister-in-law of the late Julius Weinberger,
the late Edith and the late Nathan Moss,
the late Violet Weinberger.

FRANKLIN SCHIFF, 78, former
Detroiter of Scottsdale, Ariz., died on
Aug. 26, 2012.
He worked as a physical education
teacher, and his joy was his students.
Mr. Schiff is survived by his sons Adam
and Ari.
He was the husband of the love of his
life, the late Sheilah. Contributions can be

BETTY LOUISE
SIMONS, 85, of
Southfield, died Aug.
30, 2012.
She is survived by her
son, William Simons
of Farmington Hills;
daughters and sons-in-

law, Connie and Gerald

Julie and Bruce Guttman of Huntington
Woods; grandchildren, Jason Simons,
Kimberly Simons, Kari Guttman and her
fiance Alex Altman; sister and brother-
in-law, Irene and Dr. Jerome Winkler of
West Bloomfield. Mrs. Simons is also sur-
vived by her caregiver, Rocky.
She was the beloved wife of the late
Gerald Simons.
Interment was at Machpelah Cemetery.

LILO STRAUSS, 92, of West Bloomfield,
died Aug. 29, 2012.
She is survived by her daughter,
Carmen Weiner of Denver, Colo.; son and
daughter-in-law, Cindy and Fred Weiser
of White Lake; grandchildren, Kelli and
Marc Weiner, Jill Norris, Hillary and Scott
Schneider, Erin and Michael Krasman;
great-grandchildren, Max, Ben, Lily,
Marc, Chloe, Reid and Sebastian. She is
also remembered by many other loving
family members and friends.

took place at the Machpelah Cemetery

15th Annual Kever Avot. This very special program provides
an opportunity for older adults in the community to visit the
gravesides of their loved ones. This program serves the
residents of assisted living facilities and apartments.
Spend Sunday September 9th remembering your loved ones.
Each participant will be accompanied by a volunteer on a
one-to-one basis for the morning.
