ometimes, when Lissa
Negrin is at a party, she has
an urge to change her dress
and put on a wig.
Parties — with music playing and
new people milling around
feel like some work set-
tings, where Negrin can
don as many as seven
outfits and have a wig
to go along with each
one.
It's all part of her act
impersonating Cher.
Negrin, who has
appeared at
Michigan casi-
nos, will per-
form Sept. 8-9
on the stage of
the Andiamo
Novi Theatre,
where she will be
joined by Sharon
Owens taking
on the persona of
Barbra Streisand.
The two will be
seen separately and
together for The

Barbra Streisand
and Cher Tribute,
and audiences can
count on hearing
most of the songs
associated with
the big-name stars
— one hit after
another.
Lissa Negrin
In a special seg-
ment, Negrin and
Owens will feature the hits of other
celebrity performers whose careers
soared at the same time as the two
holding the primary spotlight.
"My company, many years ago,
started a show called Divas Las
Vegas, and Sharon was one of the
original performers," says Negrin,
in a phone conversation from her
California home. "In that show, I
emceed as Cher, and Sharon was
doing Barbra.
"We've done that in a lot of differ-
ent incarnations all over the country
and got to know each other. In the

last year, we decided that Cher and
Barbra worked well together and
wanted to put this show together.
"Cher and Barbra had really long
careers while being such different
types of women. So many genera-
tions of people seem to like them."
Negrin, who met Cher many years
ago but not as her impersonator,
picked up an interest in entertain-
ing by watching her parents'
participation in community
theater. She benefited from
her dad's work as director
of Jewish federation camps,
where she took part in musi-
cal programs.
After attending the
High School for the
Performing Arts in
New York and study-
ing acting in England,
Negrin moved to
Los Angeles, finding
improv work, singing
with a band and join-
ing HBO as a writer-
producer.
In 1992, she
established
Premeditated
Productions,
providing
sketch and
musical
entertain-
ment for
casino and
corporate
events. About
the same time
and after people
as Cher
kept telling her
she sounded and
looked like Cher, the impersonation
idea took hold as an important part
of her career.
"There was a time, about eight
years ago, when my hair was Cher's
length and color," recalls Negrin,
who has accepted TV roles on Nash
Bridges, The Mommies and pilot
projects.
"I was performing her so much
that my persona on my days off was
like hers. I had a place in Malibu
around the corner from her house,
and I was mistaken many times by
people thinking I was Cher."
