DR. JACQUELINE
GREKIN, 73, of
Boca Raton, Fla., and
Farmington Hills,
died Aug. 14, 2012.
She was born in
Toronto, Ontario,
and raised in Detroit.
Dr. Grekin attended
the University of
Michigan and completed her B.S. in
education at Wayne State University.
She later earned a master's degree in
marriage and family counseling and a
Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the
University of Detroit.
Dr. Grekin was a clinical assistant
professor in the department of internal
medicine at Michigan State University
College of Osteopathic Medicine for
many years. She also had a private
practice in Warren and taught interns
and resident physicians at Bi-County
Hospital in the area of health psy-
chology. After retiring from practice
in 1997, she and her husband spent
most of their time in Florida, where
she continued her writing. Dr. Grekin
authored four books.
She was one of the founding mem-
bers of the Gilda's Club of Metro
Detroit and continued on that board
until her health failed.
Dr. Grekin is survived by her hus-
band of more than 51 years, Dr. James
Grekin; son and daughter-in-law, Dr.
Steven and Tara Grekin of Bloomfield
Hills; daughter, Susan Grekin of West
Bloomfield and her friend, Stefan
Eggenschweiler; grandchildren,
Andrew and Meredith Grekin; brother-
in-law, Joel Brown.
She was the devoted daughter of the
late Samuel "Sid" and the late Mildred
Beber; the loving sister of the late
Rosalie Doreen Brown.
Interment was at Beth El Memorial
Park Cemetery. Contributions may

She was the beloved wife of the late

BERT S. LOEWENSTEIN, 81, of
Commerce Township, died Aug. 17,
2012.
He is survived by his beloved wife,
Lois Loewenstein; daughters and sons-
in-law, Terri and Fred Rossman of
West Bloomfield, Lori and BruCe Fidler
of West Bloomfield; son and daughter-
in-law, Alan and Leslie Loewenstein
of Pinckney; brother and sister-in-
law, Alfred and Helga Loewenstein of
Naples, Fla.; grandchildren, Benjamin
Shapiro, Stephanie (Abraham) Lorber,
Megan (Samuel) Rosenbaum, Abby
Loewenstein, Bayley Loewenstein;
great-grandchild, Zev Lorber; brother-
in-law, Harvey (Linda) Wolfe; many
loving nieces, nephews, other family
members and friends.
He was the grandfather of the late
Lindsey Shapiro.

and Peter Brown Adult Day Care

RUTH MILLER, 94,
of Novi, died Aug.
19, 2012.
She is survived by

Phyllis and Dr. Joseph
Palombi of Reston, Va.; son and daugh-
ter-in-law, Lawrence and Gail Miller of
Lakeworth, Fla.; brother and sister-in-
law; Harry and Mildred Eagelberg of
West Palm Beach, Fla.; grandchildren,
Lauren (Jeremy) Picinich, Eric (Kaya)
Miller, Melissa Palombi, Marcello
Palombi, Sara Eber, Michael Eber (fian-
cee, Michelle Jacobson); many loving
nieces, nephews, other family members
and friends.
Mrs. Miller was the beloved wife of
the late Harry L. Miller; the sister of
the late Sidney Egelberg.
Contributions may be made to St.
John Providence Health Foundation or
to a charity of one's choice. Interment
took place at Beth El Cemetery in
Paramus, N. J. Arrangements by
Dorfman Chapel.
