Walk4Friendship

Zuma Zuma group to perform at
annual Friendship Circle fundraiser.

Zuma Zuma, a troupe discovered on a TV reality show, will bring its African-
style acrobatics to the Walk4Friendship this year.

his year's annual Friendship
Circle Walk4Friendship will
feature the internationally
acclaimed Zuma Zuma, best known
for its African-style Cirque du Soleil.
After being discovered on a well-
known national reality television show,
Zuma Zuma has traveled the world,
and now they are coming to Detroit to
help lead this year's Walk4Friendship.
The walk is expected to attract more
than 5,000 participants in support of
children with special needs. The fun-
draising goal is more than $500,000.
The 5K walk goes from 12:30-4 p.m.
on Sunday, Sept. 2. The walk begins
on the Friendship Circle grounds in
West Bloomfield and culminates at the
nearby Jewish Community Center.
Participants can enjoy a free carni-
val, with the Zuma Zuma performance
at 2 p.m. There is no charge for any
activities.
Friendship Circle, in conjunction
with Varsity Lincoln in Novi, also will
give away the use of a free Lincoln

Gary Burnstein Clinic
Event Fetes 27 Women
A luncheon honoring 27 women
who have achieved excellence in
their field of endeavor will benefit
the Gary Burnstein Health Clinic in
Pontiac, Oakland County's only free
medical clinic for low-income, unin-
sured residents.
It will be held at the Royal Park
Hotel in Rochester on Monday,

MKZ for two years to a lucky winner
who has the key with the right stuff to
turn the ignition.
Numerous corporate sponsors make
sure each year that Friendship Circle is
well supported financially so children
and adults with special needs can have
a haven of their own. Whether it's
children with autism who need a safe,
secure place to learn or those with
other life challenges, Friendship Circle
provides a wonderful environment
with a chance to pick up real life skills
and meaningful friendships.
Founded 17 years ago by Bassie and
Levi Shemtov, Friendship Circle now
is known around the world, boasting
more than 80 chapters.
Blaine and Allyson of 96.3
WDVD-FM will emcee this year's
Walk4Friendship; Oakland County
Sheriff Michael Bouchard will par-
ticipate, along with members of the
mounted unit.

charged for services or medicine.
