Jewish Outreach Is
A Source Of Pride
I'd like to comment on your editorial,
"Selfless Jewish Outreach — A Trait
That Echoes" (Aug. 9, page 25).
Yes, the Jewish world certainly does
mobilize well in times of crisis, whether
it's a result of terror, which Israel
faces daily; natural disasters such as
Hurricane Katrina and Southeast Asia's
misfortune with the tsunami; more
recently, a deadly attack at a movie
theater in Colorado as well as the recent
targeted suicide bombing of Israeli
tourists in Bulgaria; plus, as you noted,
even in our own backyard, the West
Bloomfield Jewish senior-citizens apart-
ment fire not that many years back.
The list goes on. Needless to say, I
am proud to be a Jew and proud of our
Jewish community. We are much more
than "a group name" ... we care, we act,
we mobilize, we support, we encourage,
and we're smart. Unfortunately, we still
remain vulnerable in this world of too
much anger and hatred.
Also, quite relevant to my letter and
the much-enjoyed Summer Olympics,
I love the cartoon on page 26, "The
Endless Relay Race: Violence against
Israelis and Jews" by Steve Greenberg.

Hold Board Accountable
For Eagle School Sale
The letter "We Need Peace In Our
Neighborhoods" (Aug. 9, page 5) ques-
tions the "goal" of those engaged in a
civil suit against the Farmington Hills
School Board over the illegal sale of
Eagle Elementary School and the recent
involvement of the Thomas More Law -
Center.
The goal is absolutely clear: to hold
accountable those individuals who,
knowingly and willfully, violated the
public trust. Despite recommendations
by the district's own study team to keep
Eagle open for the benefit of its large
enrollment, the school board sold the

building in closed session, without ever
informing the public of its intentions.
This is an illegal act in any court of law.
Moreover, although Farmington
Public Schools received numerous calls
from interested parties, including a
commercial real estate developer, an
African-American church and a Jewish
day school, the district refused to place
the property on the market. When the
building was sold on June 14, 2011, for
$1.1 million, all other potential bids had
been discouraged or ignored.
And that's just for starters! There is
ample evidence from the Thomas More
Law Center to indicate that personal
enrichment in the form of campaign
contributions came into play.
Multiculturalism may be a desirable
goal, but under American law, the end
does not justify the means. Should this
corruption go unchallenged, a precedent
is set for other public officials to flagrant-
ly disregard their bylaws and act against
the public interest for personal gain.

Why Are Leftist Israel Foes
Silent On Syrian Slaughter?
Where are all the left wing liberals who
criticize Israel?
The Israeli army takes on terrorists
who put civilians in harm's way, only
to be criticized when civilians are hurt
in the process of Israel defending itself.
Israeli soldiers are often hurt or killed
because of the precautions they take to
avoid hurting civilians.
On one recent day, close to 200 civil-
ians in Aleppo, Syria were killed, adding
to the 18,000 death toll of people whose
crime was to be living in a despotic,
minority controlled bastion of hate and
hypocrisy.
To those among the liberal left who
regularly bash Israel :

Army Anti-Semitism Victim
To Speak At ZOA Event
The Zionist Organization of America-Michigan Region will
present Dr. David Tenenbaum at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept.
5, at the Holocaust Memorial Center, 28123 Orchard Lake
Road, Farmington Hills. There is no charge.
Dubbed the "Dreyfus of our generation," Tenenbaum, a
civilian engineer for the U.S. Army, will speak about being
falsely accused of spying for Israel and his fight to clear his
name. Tenenbaum gives a firsthand account of his experi-
ence — from being followed around the clock by the FBI to

and television as the guns pound inno-
cents?
Liberals choose to criticize Israel and
Israelis with the most virulent language
of reprimand and disgust.
Where are these self-righteous
spokespeople as the carnage in Syria
continues?
I tell you where they are ... they are
silent because, in the final analysis, they
only want to kick the Jews and the sup-
porters of the modern miracle called
Israel.
In Israel, where I have been and seen
with my own eyes, Arabs walk freely
and comfortably shopping in Rishon
LeTzion's malls, Arabs receive medi-
cal care at Wolfson Hospital in Holon,
Arabs live in homes stretching from
Abu Ghosh to areas near Afula and
beyond to Haifa and the north.
To those who so openly, and with a
savor in their mouth, criticize Israel, I
say to you, in light of Aleppo, that you
have lost your credibility to judge ...
and I ask you to open your eyes and
see an Israel where, every day, Jews and
Arabs create and thrive and build a bet-
ter life for themselves and their families.
To the intolerant: If you think there
will be peace in the Middle East without
Israel, God forbid, look at the slaughter
of Aleppo. There is war and sectarian
violence that has nothing to do with
Israel.

Warsaw Had Larger
Jewish Population
The article "Welcome to Berlin" (July
26, page 36) contained an inaccuracy.
The author stated that Berlin had
the largest pre-war Jewish population
— 160,000. In fact, Warsaw's pre-war
Jewish population was 334,000-397,000,
almost one-third of the city's total popu-
lation, depending on which source is
used.

living in fear that he would be sent to
jail for the rest of his life for a crime he
did not commit.
The accusations against him were
based solely on false claims by anti-
Semitic coworkers, a fact that the gov-
ernment has tried to cover up.
Tenenbaum's story reveals a episode
of blatant anti-Semitism that existed in
government offices. Today, he continues
his fight for justice. ❑

Can Credit Card
Debt Really Be
Eliminated?

Yes - but you need to
proceed with caution.
Watch out for the
radio, tv and direct
mail ads making the big, wild
claims - they overcharge and
under perform. We call the
process Debt Resolution.
We do it as lawyers - we
notify the creditors that we
are attorneys representing
our clients for severe financial
distress and are seeking a
solution outside of bankruptcy
- if they are reasonable. We
use the cash flow from not
paying the cards to settle
the debt over time. You need
careful planning, however,
because there can be tax
consequences and sometimes
less expensive and quicker
solutions. BOTTOM LINE
- it can be great in the right
situation, but sometimes there
are better options.
THAV GROSS has been solving

its clients' business, tax and financial
