While the warm days of summer
expose our desire to conserve energy,
both personal and that provided by
DTE, the Chaldean-Jewish Building
Community Initiative has been gener-
ating energy and excitement with its
programs and plans.
July's well-conceived and well-
received "Roots" exhibit by Chaldean
and Jewish artists at the Birmingham
Bloomfield Art Center demonstrated
how the interactions and friendships
stimulated by the Building Community
Initiative are being expressed in cre-

The dedication of the Arts & Culture
Workgroup, co-chaired by Mary
Romaya and Barbara Kratchman and
ably reinforced by their committee of
Sharon Alterman, Mira Burack, Stephen
Goldman, Mark Kassa, Mark Lit, Sulafa
Roumayah, Michele Saroki and Firyal
