ast week, Detroit's own
UpTo, the future-focused
social application that
empowers your iPhone's calendar,
launched a major update as well
as a new app in partnership with
the London Olympics.
The latest release
enables users to
discover third-par-
ty event streams
based on their likes
and interests.
UpTo's first
major partner
for streams is
Olympics sponsor
Westfield UK.
Westfield
Stratford City
shopping center is in the heart of
Olympic Park. UpTo's new func-
tionality will feature the Games'
events, allowing users to follow
specific event categories and see
where and when they take place.
Where Facebook and Twitter
will promote what has happened
at the Games, UpTo will promote
what is coming up. The UpTo
application will be promoted to
Westfield's visitors on digital
screens located throughout these
centers as well as across Westfield
web properties.
With the new capabilities,
Metro Detroiters will soon be
able to follow event streams
for TV series, upcoming mov-
ies and even event streams
from the Jewish Federation of
Metropolitan Detroit, among
others, to keep abreast of which
events friends and family are
planning to attend.
"People want to know where
the people they care about are
planning to go," said UpTo CEO
Greg Schwartz. "That can help
drive attendance."
UpTo gives the user complete
control over what content they
see and share. The latest ver-
sion also includes support for
Facebook Events as well as a
new "Add Event" screen with
Foursquare venue lookup, mak-
ing it easy to automatically add
locations and addresses for any
event. El
