Women Helping Women

Jewish Women's Foundation announces its annual grants.

T

he Jewish Women's Foundation
completed its annual grant cycle
and awarded $259,480 in grants.
Using the power of women's collective phi-
lanthropy, the JWF continues to fund proj-
ects and offer programs that achieve its
mission of enhancing the lives of Jewish
women and girls in our local community,
Michigan and in Israel. Through this pro-
cess, the JWF empowers women as deci-
sionmakers, leaders and philanthropists.
"In 13 years, just more than 200 area
Jewish women have built a fund that has
awarded $2 million in grants and alloca-
tions," said Carolyn Tisdale, JWF chairper-
son."Our individual grants improve and save
lives:'
Randie Levin, JWF associate chairperson,
added, "Over the years, we have encouraged
gender equity and gender sensitivity in our
local Jewish institutions, and we are notic-
ing changes. There are more women on our
boards and a greater effort to determine and
serve their needs"
The JWF's 2012 grants are listed below.

FOUR GENERATIONS OF HELPING FAMILIES

For 70 years, there's one thing that has never stood in the way of The Ira Kaufman Chapel
working with a family that needs us - money.

During all of the ups and downs of Michigan's history, we have always maintained our
commitment to flexibility on costs. And we always will.

We don't believe in "extras" - we won't charge you for a Shomer, and we won't charge you
for Web streaming. But, we will always be fair, whenever you need us.
