Detroit JCC Honored
At the recent Jewish Community
Centers of North America conven-
tion held in New Orleans, the Jewish
Community Center of Metropolitan
Detroit was honored for the
Kindness Project, a new program
headed by Rabbi Tzvi Muller of
Partners in Torah.
The Kindness Project encourages
JCC staff, board and members to be
conscientious of the way they speak,
helpful in their actions, and strive to
become more thoughtful and com-
passionate human beings. JCC lay

StoryCorps, a national nonprofit organi-
zation that records, shares and preserves
the stories of people from all back-
grounds and beliefs, will record inter-
views in Detroit through Aug. 11 as part
of its cross-country MobileBooth tour.
StoryCorps' MobileBooth, an
Airstream trailer outfitted with a
recording studio, will be parked at the
Virgil H. Carr Cultural Arts Center,
in Paradise Valley/Harmonie Park in
Detroit.
Reservations can be made by calling
StoryCorps' 24-hour, toll-free reserva-
tion line at (800) 850-4406 or by visit-
ing storycorps.org.
WDET, Detroit's NPR station, will
air a selection of interviews recorded
and create special programs around the
project. Segments of select interviews
may air nationally on NPR's Morning
Edition. With participant permis-
sion, interviews will be archived at the
American Folklife Center at the Library
of Congress.

Kadima Offers
Family Support

Kadima's Family Support and Advocacy
Group meets monthly with parents who
have children diagnosed with emotion-
al and behavioral disorders. This group,
led by Lisa Kaufman, provides parents
and other family members with tools,
