Shabbat With Music

Shaarey Zedek hosts Gemini duo for

a musical Shabbat for young families.

0

n June 22, more than 100 children and adults came
together at Congregation Shaarey Zedek to cel-
ebrate a joyous Kabbalat Shabbat for families with
young children.
The evening started with a casual barbeque dinner, pro-
viding time for families to shmooze and enjoy the relaxed
Shabbat atmosphere. After dinner, the musical group
Gemini provided a Shabbat experience filled with Jewish
music, Hebrew songs and some preschool favorites.
Shaarey Zedek's next Shabbat experience for Young
Families will be "Shabbat Bounce" on Friday, July 27, featur-
ing an outdoor barbecue, inflatables and a family-friendly
Shabbat service.
Shaarey Zedek offers a variety of programs targeted to
young families, including weekly Story Time, Jumpin' and
Jivin' Musical Open Gym and special events.

mpty-nesters who have gotten
together over the years at Temple
Israel did so once more on June
23 at Reunion Too!
The casual summer evening, open to
the community, featured mingling, din-
ner, dancing and a special performance
by funny man Alan "Big Al" Muskovitz.
Formerly of Purtan's People on WOMC-
FM, Muskovitz is now with C Moon
Productions in Huntington Woods and a
Jewish News columnist.
About 120 people turned out at the
West Bloomfield synagogue for the
second annual event. Radio personal-
ity Kevin O'Neill of Farmington Hills
helped Big Al cast lines of humor through
Temple Israel's Herman Hall. Steve
Jasgur of Southfield-based Joe Cornell
Entertainment served as DJ and led a
rousing rendition of the Hustle. The crowd
included Rabbi Paul and Wendy Yedwab of
Commerce.
"We still like to dance and have a good
time," said Linda Beltzman, who, with
husband Stanley, led the host committee.
"We're still young at heart." li
