The Park

Adat Shalom's young

families look forward

to another leisurely

evening with song,

stories and a picnic.

held Shabbat in the Park
events designed for
young families in late May and in
June at Drake Sports Park in West
Bloomfield.
Participants welcomed Shabbat
with interactive music, stories and
blessings. Hazzan Dan Gross, Rabbi
Rachel Shere and Dan Shere led the
service, which was followed by a
BYOP (Bring Your Own Picnic) din-
ner.
The next Shabbat in the Park is
at 5:45 p.m. Friday, July 13, at Drake
Park. Drinks and dessert provided
by Adat Shalom. All are welcome. To

he JVS Strictly Business and
Networking Luncheon on June
7 drew more than 700 partici-
pants to honor the best in the business.
The event featured Ed Levy Jr., hon-
orary chair, who received a standing
ovation after sharing the life lessons
his parents and grandparents taught
him about running a successful family
enterprise.
Also honored were Jason Raznick,
founder of Benzinga, who received the
first annual JVS Rising Entrepreneur
Award for the startup of an online
financial media outlet that serves 3

million monthly readers; and Andra
Rush, founder of Rush Trucking, who
accepted the JVS Business Leadership
Award for growing a trucking company
of three vehicles to a nationwide fleet
of nearly 2,000 trucks and trailers.
Three individuals, including Roberta
Zald, Frances Gendler and Charles
Scott, received the JVS Employee of the
Year Award for using JVS services to
successfully find employment.
Co-Chairs Mindi Fynke and Michael
Tobin reported that the event raised
$275,000 to help the community get
back to work.
