frontlines IRP's Lecture Series Eyes American Politics The Jewish Community Center of Metropolitan Detroit's Institute for Retired Professionals (IRP) will host the annual Kirsh Lecture Series, "American Politics in a Global Age," fea- turing Professor Howard N. Lupovitch, throughout the month of July. Lupovitch is the Waks Family Chair in Jewish Studies in the History Department at the University of Western Ontario in Howard London and author Lupovitch of Jews and Judaism in World History All programs are open to the public and will be held Wednesdays, 2:30-4 p.m., at the Berman Center for the Performing Arts at the JCC in West Bloomfield. The talks are: July 11: "Does Europe Still Matter?" July 18: "Immigration Restrictions: Good or Bad for America?" July 25: "Does America Need a Third Major Political Party?" Kindertransport Talk At Holocaust Center Kindertransport (Children's Transport) was the name given to rescue efforts that brought thousands of refugee Jewish children to Great Britain from Nazi Germany and German-annexed countries between 1938 and 1940. Hear Hans Winmann and Edith Maniker, two of the rescued children, discuss their experiences with this incredible effort during the Holocaust. The free event is at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 24, at the Holocaust Memorial Center, Farmington Hills.
