n an effort to bring the latest global
technology to the revived U.S.
auto industry, the Michigan Israel
Business Bridge (MIBB) announces the
Michigan Israel Automotive Event. MIBB
will host more than 20 Israeli companies
interested in doing business with auto-
related companies in Michigan.
The event, June 19-21, is the third
organized by the MIBB and the first
since 2009. The event will convene
a high-level discussion between
the leading innovators from Israel
and Michigan automotive Original
Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and
suppliers designed to foster economic
development and partnership.
The Israeli companies visiting
Michigan bring a variety of solutions to
the automotive industry — from tech-
nological advancements to parts suppli-
ers to software. The innovations devel-
oped by the Israeli companies create
value by focusing on improving quality
and reliability as well as environmental,
safety and technical features of a vehicle.
Michigan OEMs and suppliers will be
able to meet one-on-one with the Israeli
companies at the three-day event.
As a centerpiece, the MIBB will
host the Automotive Power Breakfast
at 7:30 a.m. June 20 at Compuware
Headquarters in Detroit. Speakers
include Mike Finney, president and CEO
of Michigan Economic Development
Corporation, and Uri Pachter, director
of International Projects and Target
Countries for the Israel Export &
International Cooperation Institute.
Following breakfast, attendees can
visit the adjoining expo showcasing
Israeli technologies and products.
"This event is part of our strategy
to accelerate the growth of innovation
and technology in the automotive sec-
tor and create new jobs in the state of
Michigan',' said Chuck Newman of Ann
Arbor, MIBB president and founder of
ReCellular Inc.
The event is organized in partner-
ship with the Government of Israel
Economic Mission to the Midwest
and the Israeli Export & International
Cooperation Institute. Sponsors include
Compuware and Rock Ventures.
"Israel is a world leader in technol-
ogy," said Pamela B. Lippitt, MIBB
executive director. "Michigan is the
recognized world leader in automotive.
We're bringing the two together to cre-
ate opportunities for growth for every
company involved."
