Upper Peninsula Synagogue
Celebrates Its Centennial

in maintaining cultural diversity in the
Keweenaw Peninsula. Their goal is to
reach 101 donations in the days leading
to the Centennial Celebration. You can
read their story at www.razoo.com/story/
Temple-Jacob.

The weekend of August 9 marks the
100th anniversary celebration of Temple
Jacob in Hancock, Mich., a historic struc-
ture recognized as the oldest continuous-
ly active Temple in Michigan's
Upper Peninsula and the
only active synagogue in
Michigan listed on the
National Historic Register. As
part of the celebration, the
congregation and supporters
have undertaken a campaign
to restore and maintain this
historic building, which
has played and continues
Temple Jacob in the U.P.
to play an important role
